Our JOURNEY
Since the development of our first concept, Exo Engineering has developed and deployed nature-inclusive solutions to clients worldwide, fulfilling bespoke project requirements whilst enabling nature to thrive.
2025
Continuation of monitoring campaigns at both the Celtic Sea ExoReef and North Sea ExoLodge projects yielded crucial data about the types of species which are beginning to call our units home.
A range of monitoring techniques, including eDNA, BRUV and ROV surveys were undertaken to gain a deeper understanding into the interaction between our units and biodiversity
2024
Exo Engineering increases the focus on bespoke solutions, working with clients to tweak our existing designs or develop project-specific solutions. We also continued to improve our designs for coastal and marine applications, with milestone projects such as our ExoTile deployment at Two Tree Island in Essex, and North Sea deployment of our ground-breaking ExoLodge artificial reefs.
2023
Exo Engineering continues to develop new, innovative solutions which combine functionality with habitat provision. Our flagship Celtic Sea deployment at META took place in autumn of 2023, seeing 16 tonnes of our ExoReef solutions deployed.
2022
With the success of early prototype testing, Exo Engineering is founded. Exo Engineering continues to develop low carbon, Nature Inclusive Solutions for intertidal and offshore applications.
2022 also saw Exo Engineering shift from small-scale pilots into larger deployments. With a wealth of knowledge behind us, Exo Engineering continued to explore new ways to build ecological design into our products.
2018-2021
The knowledge accumulated by Exo Environmental and testing in partnership with the University of Essex, Southampton University and pilot tests in Brightlingsea Harbour allow us to fine-tune our processes to consistently improve the materials, designs, and timescales.
2014-2017
Exo Environmental begins to explore the possibilities for re-using dredged material to restore, enhance, and create habitats. The company begins to develop both GeoBlock and Greening the Grey technologies and collaborates with universities and partners to test early concepts.
